“The confident girl is careful about whom she listens to, and she sure doesn’t put the critics in charge. Not everybody gets a voice, and certainly not everybody gets a seat at the table.
Meet the Confident Girl.
For a couple of weeks now, I’ve been telling you about a brand new book that’s coming out that I just know you’re going to love. Friends…meet Tricia Lott Williford and “You Can Do This: Seizing the Confidence that God Offers.”
It’s a love story…and a devotional…and an instruction manual…and a warm hug and a good cup of coffee all squeezed into 200 pages of pure delight. It’s about finding your confidence. It’s about living the life you’ve been given…not the life you wish you had.
I love words like I love good coffee. I love the way they come together and create magic, just with letters on a page. And when I find a good author, who has the ability to take the words and make the magic, I want to drink in everything they write. Tricia Lott Williford has joined my author list…and she has debuted very close to the top.
I’ve known Tricia since the late 1990s. Dan and I were youth leaders at our church, and Tricia was a part of the youth group. I kept up with her “secondhand”…we had so many mutual people in our world that it was impossible not to hear this and that.
In 2010, two days before Christmas, Tricia lost her husband Robb to a misdiagnosed illness that took his life in less than 12 hours. She was 31 years old and had a five-year-old and a three-year-old. She began writing her life and I started following her blog, watching as she slowly rebuilt a life wearing a title that she could never have imagined and certainly didn’t want.
Tricia doesn’t write the sugar coated words. She didn’t write them then and she’s not writing them now. She never says that her story is any better or any worse than someone else’s story. Throughout her journey, she’s learned that although your life may not look like what you thought it would, it’s still your life…and you can own it with confidence. Tricia’s words call us to stand up. To find the confidence that God has given each of us, and to step into our lives boldly. To be the Confident Girl that…
- Knows her identity.
- Appreciates her beauty.
- Enjoys her own company.
- Feels how she feels.
- Chooses vulnerability…refuses fear…learns to hope.
- Can do this life well.
You Can Do This is about joining the confidence conversation. It’s about finding the courage to stop being unhappy with yourself, stop second-guessing your decisions and commitments and stop wondering if your life would have been better if you had chosen differently. It’s about living this life–this life that God has given you right here and right now–and embracing your God-given gift of confidence. You are going to love this book…and you are going to love Tricia.
Come on, friends. Join me.
“It’s time to agree with God about who He says you are. You are smart. You are kind. You are beautiful. And even if you’ve never thought so, you are confident. You have everything you need to begin.”
“This is your story, your life, your moment.”
